OMEC’s vision is to utilize the available supply of gas and Rock phosphate available in the sane location to create an
integrated complex for the manufacturing of several hydrocarbon related product the add value to the raw material available. This will increase the economic impact of the resources, create jobs and promotes economic activities in one of the most underdeveloped areas of the country, and help grow exports and substitute imports into Jordan. Fertilizers, specifically, contribute to food security locally, regionally, and internationally. The planned complex is to eventually include:
- Natural Gas to Urea Plant producing 330 thousand tons of urea per year.
- Natural Gas to Ammonia Plant producing 200 thousand tons of ammonia per year.
- Utilizing nitric acid to produce nitro-phosphates (NPKs) like MAP, MKP, NP, CN, and CAN.
- Soda Ash Plant.
- Methanol Plant.
- Carbon dioxide treatment unit (intended to either utilize CO₂ emissions in a production of value-added material or disposing of CO₂ in an environmentally responsible way.
- Shared Utilities providing power, water and other utilities for the projects.
OMEC plans to design, procure, install, commission, and operate a plant to produce up to 330,000 MT. The plant will be located near AlRisha gas field at the delivery point of the natural gas supply.
